DVD Smoke & Steam:
In the Highlands & Lowlands of Scotland
A tribute to the renaissance in steam operations in the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland.
‘Scotland for Steam’ runs the advertising and is certainly is! On the railways steam is a major tourist atttraction, both on preserved lines and British Rail’s own main and branch lines.
This dvd features many of the steam locomotives to be seen throughout the Scottish Kingdom, from the banks of the River Forth on the Forth Valley Railway, where we see a vintage Caledonian 0-4-4T in a rich blue paint scheme, to an A4 high above the Forth on the world-famous Forth Railway Bridge.
Lowlands action is completed around Edinburgh’s suburban system, known as the ‘Sub’ and the Highlands form the most magnificent backdrop as we visit the Strathspey Railway at Aviemore, cross the mountains, with ‘Maude’ and follow BR’s well-known West Highland line to Fort William to Mallaig line.
